rain check

Today the word I’ve met is rain check.
Originally, in case of concert delay or baseball game delay, I can get a rain check for next time not to pay more. But I could usually use it. When a friend says “Let’s have lunch together today.” “Sorry, can I take a rain check? I already have a meeting at lunch, “

One step ahead

One step ahead is the word I’ve met today.
We always want to be one step ahead but things have steps. especially, in case of English study,  We can’t bypass or leap the steps.

Better reason

Better reason is the word I’ve met today from deadly class.

For example, you are late for going to school.  Getting to the school, Your teacher said “Why are you late? “, “There’s a subway delayed because of subway accident” “You need a better reason” he said.

Nuthouse is the word I met today from deadly class. It means mental hospital, psychiatric hospital. Government cuts funds to the nuthouse because of low budget. Cutting funds cause chain reactions into Marcus’s family.  Prevailing idea over this comics based tv show is that ‘Someone deserves to die’, ‘revenge’, ‘survival’. When do people feel someone deserves to die? In drama, Marcus’s case is for threats for his family and his life.

Narrowly is the word I met today.  In my dream at last night,  I must have gotten on the boat. I narrowly got on the boat. What does exactly it means? I don’t have any boat?
I narrowly escape from my dream.
I never narrowly escape from bad situation in dreams and woke up from nightmare.
